How to install Simple Agent on Shopify

You will paste a single <script> tag in your Shopify site's theme.liquid (before </body>). No plugin, no app installation. Shopify official docs on custom code->

   Get your agent token

   Log into Simple Agent → your agent → Widget tab → copy the token shown under 'Embed code'.

   Open your theme code

   In Shopify Admin, go to Online Store → Themes → your active theme → Edit code. Open layout/theme.liquid.

   Paste the snippet before </body>

   Scroll to the bottom of theme.liquid. Just before the closing </body> tag, paste: <script src="https://simple-agent.me/widget/loader.js" data-agent-token="YOUR_TOKEN_HERE" async ></script>

   Replace YOUR_TOKEN_HERE

   Replace YOUR_TOKEN_HERE with the agent token you copied in step 1. Save the file.

   Preview your store

   Open the live storefront in a private browser tab. The chat widget should appear in the bottom-right corner. Send a test message to confirm it responds correctly.

Frequently asked questions

Does this require a Shopify app?

No. Simple Agent is a plain JavaScript snippet. You paste it directly in your theme file, so there is no Shopify app installation.

Will the widget appear on every page of my store?

Yes. Adding the snippet to theme.liquid makes it load site-wide. If you only want it on specific pages (e.g., product pages), add it to the relevant section template instead.

Does it slow down my store?

The widget loader is async, so it does not block page rendering. Test after install if your theme has strict performance or consent tooling.

Can I train it on my product catalog?

Yes. In Simple Agent, add your store's sitemap URL (yourstore.myshopify.com/sitemap.xml) as a source. The agent will index your products, collections, and policies.
